Stencil Graffiti.

28 01 2010

I love this piece of stencil graffiti. To me, it depicts beauty in women, whether it is based on one girl, or four different ones. Each image can be seen separately, depicting different kinds of personality. Shy? Mysterious? Smart? Sexy? Whatever! But at the same time, it can be seen as a whole; one girl, four faces, multiple sides to her. //

Remediation.

28 01 2010

Below is a picture of the original children’s short story book, Where the Wild Things Are. Below that video is the trailer for the full length film of Where The Wild Things Are, a representation of the original book. The making of the full length, live-action film is an example of remediation. The film “borrows” the story and the characters from the book, but in no means does the book have a direct role, especially when viewing the film. “The contemporary entertainment industry calls such borriwing ‘repurposing’: to take the ‘property’ from one medium and use it in another.” (Bolter & Grusin) //

Hello.

28 01 2010

Hello & welcome to my blog.  This originated as a requirement for a class, Informatics 303: Writing Across Media, but who knows.  Maybe I’ll stick around even after the semester.  For now, both my assignments and my thoughts will be posted here. //
